[It's clear that he's not really used to people blatantly thinking of him, let alone just giving him things, given the way that his pale complexion has started to betray him with a pink blush along his cheekbones and back to his ears.
Looking at it closer, he notices the pattern of tan and brown on the shell, remembers passing it over as a possibility in lieu of getting the Fletchling for York.]
Is... is this an Eevee?
[He asks, as he reaches out to take it carefully with his free arm (and Rascal watches the egg trade hands with a little bit of jealousy, but mostly curiosity). How dad does he look standing there with an egg cradled in one arm and a little egg pokemon cradled in the other, Carolina?]
This is so thoughtful, Carolina, thank you. I love it.
[The question about his plans takes him by surprise, because he didn't actually have any.]
...I don't know. Get a little bit of a buffer funds-wise, stock up for the next leg. From what I can tell from the map, the next city's at least twice as far as this one was, which means we'll be in the woods a while.
Some take a few days, some a week or so, and some longer. I think that one's in the week-or-so range.
There's a lot of books on how pokémon work around these cities, but none of them are incredibly specific. I've been thinking of asking a couple of the breeder-trainers what they know.
Debrief the people coming into it from the same outsider's perspective? That's the big problem I've noticed with a lot of the manuals. They assume there's already a base knowledge that I, at least, don't have.
Re: action
[Carolina's grin is bright and sunny.]
I figured you might be in the market for one of these, so I picked it up.

[See, North? She
snoopspays attention. He looks. So dad. She drinks in the image with a little chuckle, nodding.]
Glad you like it.
action
Now I owe you one.

[She returns his look with a smile of her own, crossing her arms and leaning back a little, pose all swagger.]

[Because he doesn't remember you owing him a thing.]
Re: action
N-no, mm. Not that I can remember. Nevermind.
[SO.]
Right. I ah, also came to ask how you've been doing.
action
...How I've been doing? I've got to say this wasn't really what I expected to happen after-
I mean, but I'm fine. Really.

[She should be with her boys. Not playing Darwinist Cockfighting.]
But... let me know if you need anything.
action
Same goes for you, you know. You can lean on me too.
action
[With a gentle, friendly shoulder-punch, Carolina gives North a smile. So smooth. Just like old times.
But she's gotten used to cat herding the sim soldiers, not so much traveling with old friends, so she seems just slightly hesitant.]
So, what plans do you have for Cherrygrove so far?

Guess we'll need the time for training, anyway. [Because hell yeah, Carolina's training.]
Looks like we're all on the same page.
action
[Obviously, cute as it is, this two-arm strategy isn't going to be a long-term solution.]
Like a wagon or a bigger backpack.
action
[She has to chuckle a little.]
Guess that's the downside to a few eggs. At least it won't be too long for it to hatch.
action
...Do we even know how long it takes?

I'm sure something like that would be as thorough as possible. Or maybe our outsider friends have already put information of their own together.
