Some take a few days, some a week or so, and some longer. I think that one's in the week-or-so range.
There's a lot of books on how pokémon work around these cities, but none of them are incredibly specific. I've been thinking of asking a couple of the breeder-trainers what they know.
Debrief the people coming into it from the same outsider's perspective? That's the big problem I've noticed with a lot of the manuals. They assume there's already a base knowledge that I, at least, don't have.
