[The time has come for Carolina to share a gift. She's received a pancham egg from York and learned of his fletchling-- so now the circle of egg trades must be completed. She heads for North's room and knocks-- a courtesy denied York.]
North! It's me, open up.
[.......well he gets the courtesy of a knock, at least.]

[Smiling, Carolina can't help but regard Togepi with an affectionate chuckle. North has quite taken to the role of dad again.]
I brought something for you.
[She holds the egg up between her palms by the top and bottom.]
I brought something for you.
[She holds the egg up between her palms by the top and bottom.]
Who else?
[Carolina's grin is bright and sunny.]
I figured you might be in the market for one of these, so I picked it up.

That's right. One of the ones that evolves into a fairy-type.
[See, North? Shesnoops pays attention.
He looks. So dad. She drinks in the image with a little chuckle, nodding.]
Glad you like it.

Glad you like it.
Is that how it is now? Or are we starting a new count?
[She returns his look with a smile of her own, crossing her arms and leaning back a little, pose all swagger.]

[...She clears her throat. For some reason, Church's voice echoes in her head. Loosen up? Too loose, apparently. Right. Joke game too lame today.]
N-no, mm. Not that I can remember. Nevermind.
[SO.]
Right. I ah, also came to ask how you've been doing.

...Well, if it makes you feel better, I didn't expect it, either.
[She should be with her boys. Not playing Darwinist Cockfighting.]
But... let me know if you need anything.

Can always count on North Dakota.
[With a gentle, friendly shoulder-punch, Carolina gives North a smile. So smooth. Just like old times.
But she's gotten used to cat herding the sim soldiers, not so much traveling with old friends, so she seems just slightly hesitant.]
So, what plans do you have for Cherrygrove so far?

[Did North know rooming with York would not only be cost-efficient but bump up the real estate value? This is a PRIME VIEW he's getting here as York exits the bathroom with only a towel wrapped around his hips. York beelines straight for the coffee instead of his clean clothes, even. Enjoy.
He's got a fantastic collection of new scars since the good old days of the Project: knife wounds, many of them, and gunshots that winged him as he made an escape from a heist gone pear-shaped. But the freshest are the puckered bullet scars going straight through his side and out his chest, right where he couldn't have seen the shots coming.]
Mornin', dude.
[It's evening. Night shift life is gr8.]

[York hums idly as he pours himself a cup, savors the scent for a moment, and then sets it aside on the bedside table so he can get dressed.]
Sleep okay?
[As if he doesn't know. York doesn't sleep much these days, either, though. Wakes himself up with a jerk every time he starts nodding off, only to fall into a restless slumber light as a spider thread for a couple hours at a time. Useful if he needs to wake a guy up from nightmares; not so great for York himself, but he seems fine when he's awake.
Anyway, he turns away to pull his boxers and new jeans on.]

Twice as far, huh?
Guess we'll need the time for training, anyway. [Because hell yeah, Carolina's training.]
Looks like we're all on the same page.

[York remains utterly oblivious to the gaze on his ass. If he were aware, maybe he wouldn't put his shirt on; what Freelancer doesn't love an audience? But, alas, he is not, and his back muscles disappear under cotton. Farewell, shoulder blades. Au revoir, obliques.]
Little earlier than that. [He returns to his coffee. Mm, coffee.] Figured I could get a little training of my own done before you two finish up. Or maybe I could go bother you at your job, that sounds fun. Door's always open, right?

...Yeah. We'll see what we can do about that.
[She has to chuckle a little.]
Guess that's the downside to a few eggs. At least it won't be too long for it to hatch.
