[The only sound for a moment is the knock of the gear being tapped against something semi-hard, and similarly the only thing in focus is a white eggshell with the corners of red and blue shapes.
Also the sound of the 'Gear being chewed on. Omnomnomnom.]
Are you getting into trouble already, you little scamp?
[The voice is deep, warm, and affectionate.]
That's not food, here, let me trade you-
[The feed is a little smeared on one corner, and the camera unknowingly focuses on a large, pale hand offering one of thedonuts rice balls that Mom packs standard in her bento to a very small Togepi, who takes it in its little hands and shoves the whole thing into its mouth at once. The voice laughs offscreen, and the camera gets a closeup of his green overalls as he untucks his purple t-shirt to wipe the drool off the corner.
It's then that he notices that the camera's on, and finally brings his face into focus.]
...Sorry about that, I hope he didn't bother anybody.

[He tilts the camera back down to show her, but Togepi's lip wobbles and he hides behind North's lime green pantleg.]
Sorry, he's a little shy. Which one do you have there?
[It's pink and blue and white all over which apparently piques his interest]
[Ah, the life of a cute idol.]
She's a Sylveon, the evolved form of an Eevee. Her name's Himiko.
[Himiko chirps and waves one of her feelers in a hello gesture.]
[He waves his fingers in return.]
And what's your name? Everyone calls me North.
[Both trainer and Pokémon nod before Rise answers. North isn't the weirdest name she's heard.]
Rise Kujikawa. But just Rise is fine.
[......how do evolution]
It's nice to meet you, Rise. And you too, Himiko.
[And there's even more confusing ones.
Himiko is very happy to be addressed, if the bouncing is any indication.]
I haven't seen you on the network before. Are you one of the new people here?
IT'S CUTE AND HE NEEDS ONE. LOOK AT THAT HAPPY BOUNCE
Togepi peeks out hesitantly, intrigued by the pink and blue of its fellow fairy-type.]
Yeah, I just got here. How long have you been here?
Rise thinks for a moment.]
Well, as of the ninth of this month, it's been half a year. So a while now. It's not a bad place once you get used to it. But I wish more of my friends were here.
It seems like it. The weather's nice, at least, and everything seems almost aggressively peaceful.
[Then again, coming out of a warzone quaintness is always aggressively peaceful.]
.......... Last month it was way too hot for almost two weeks, then there was storms for over a week, followed by a week and a half of heavy snow and a blizzard.
[This was not fun.]
Apparently that's not uncommon. But in August? At least it's nicer weather right now...
Was there some kind of atmospheric intrusion or a comet whiffing too close to the planet?
[wtf the fuck causes that kind of weather]
...Well, honestly almost any weather's nicer than just nothing but space as far as the eye can see.
[Everything comes down to Pokémon.]
Space? Are you an astronaut?
Soldier, actually. Similar job description, with a whole lot less glamour.
A space soldier? That... sounds like something out of an anime or a Sentai show. But I guess for this place it's not that abnormal. My friend was a bear before he came here.
A bear? You know, I heard some rumors about one of the ladies I worked with being half-shark, but I've gotta say I've only really known one kind of bear.
[HE'S NOT MAKING AN INNUENDO TO HER BUT HE'S DEFINITELY NOT TALKING ABOUT CHARMING WOODLAND CREATURES... North stop it's been too long since you were around civilians who let you outside.]
Mm... I can't really say I find that weird anymore. Not since I've been here a while. He's not the only animal who turned human here, and apparently there's people who used to do magic, or were gods or something in their world. My powers not that great in comparison.
[Heeeey, make all the innuendos you want with this girl. She'll just throw them right back at you. But no, she's just going to assume it's a person because bear in space?]
[Too many innuendos sounds like flirting and you are both too young and too female for his taste sorry Rise]
What was it you could do?
It's not that great... All I can do is track people down, find out weaknesses and strengths, make maps, find treasure, and I even learned to heal... but I can't use my powers to fight. It was fun when I got my powers back here for a weekend. I knew where everyone was, literally.
Fighting is overrated.
[Says the space soldier.]
Our armor could do things like that, back home; we all had a special enhancement, in addition to the stuff that came standard. Mine was a shield, my buddy's was healing. Things like that save more lives than guns do.
So... my powers are fine the way they are? I just don't want to feel like they need to defend me all the time. My friends should be more focused on the battles!
Really? That's super useful!
[wistful teenage girl sigh- ok not really, but he does have a lot of admiration in his tone.]
He's here too; you ought to talk to him if you haven't yet.
