[The only sound for a moment is the knock of the gear being tapped against something semi-hard, and similarly the only thing in focus is a white eggshell with the corners of red and blue shapes.

Also the sound of the 'Gear being chewed on. Omnomnomnom.]

Are you getting into trouble already, you little scamp?

[The voice is deep, warm, and affectionate.]

That's not food, here, let me trade you-

[The feed is a little smeared on one corner, and the camera unknowingly focuses on a large, pale hand offering one of the ~~donuts~~ rice balls that Mom packs standard in her bento to a very small Togepi, who takes it in its little hands and shoves the whole thing into its mouth at once. The voice laughs offscreen, and the camera gets a closeup of his green overalls as he untucks his purple t-shirt to wipe the drool off the corner.

It's then that he notices that the camera's on, and finally brings his face into focus.]

...Sorry about that, I hope he didn't bother anybody.

[The Togepi squeaks and hides his face nervously, peeking one eye from around North's pantleg. North takes stock of the situation and decides to kneel down and help the little guy make new friends.]

It's okay, they're not gonna hurt you.

[A very quiet, very tremulous little "Toge..."]

[The Altaria looks to something off screen as the Dedenne waved it's little arm as a greeting. A moment later the Altaria lifts the Gear up and carries it over to two more Pokémon and a boy sitting between them. The boy blinks and sighs, grabbing it from the bird.]

Sky, stop trying to call people. I know you're happy I'm back-

[Oh. The screen's on. Roxas stares for a moment before rubbing the back of his neck, smiling sheepishly.]

.... I-I'm sorry! Did she bother you?

[Togepi hesitantly lifts one of his little cone-arms away from its death grip of North's pantleg to wave.

And then quickly hides again when the Dedenne is replaced with a boy a fair healthier shade of blond-haired blue-eyed than North.]

Not at all. She was just trying to make friends.

Sky does that... She loves anyone that gives her attention. I was told all Altaria's do that.

[The Dedenne climbs into his trainers lap, but is disappointed when he can't see the Togepi on the screen. Where'd you go, tiny friend?]

I guess this is what happens when you teach your Pokémon how to read.

[On to the next question as his Dedenne is doing his best to peek around to see the Togepi.]

[Peekaboo. This can be done. The Dedenne is going to cover his eyes now, squeaking softly.]

Actually... I left somehow. I just got back to this world a few days ago and rushed to Cherrygrove.

[He pats his Altaria affectionately.] Sky was my first Pokémon the first time I cam here. She was a Swablu then. Saix- [The other bird who looks less than pleased to be here.] was a birthday present from a friend here. He's a Rufflet, and my friend got him to take care of while I was gone.

[And now the attention is at a little sleeping Shinx.] I caught Belle here on the way to Cherrygrove. She's a Shinx. And the little guy in my lap is my new starter, Vivi, and he's a Dedenne.

[!!!! where did it go??????]

So you've been here before, but not for a while.

[...SORRY...THAT IS A LOT OF NAMES...] Seems like these guys come in all shapes and sizes.

[Vivi squeaks as he uncovers his eyes. I'm back!]

It happens here every once in a while. It's kind of weird.

[Oh no, did he confuse you?] Y-Yeah... a lot more than you think. Sky is my biggest one right now. But they get huge! Like Wailord huge! Vivi's one of the smallest ones.

[OH. MY GOD. THAT'S AMAZING DO IT AGAIN]

I bet it's pretty disorienting.

[Eh, he'll get there eventually. Biology was never his strong suit in school. He's going to have the world's slowest start as a Breeder though, since his first pokemon is literally a baby]

She's pretty cute. She may even be smaller than this little scamp.

[SHE'S PROBABLY LITERALLY SHORTER THAN NORTH'S HAND someone stop this giant man]

[Okay! Hiding my eyes again!]

[Roxas looks down at Vivi, then the Togepi. Which one was indeed smaller... It's hard to tell since he himself was probably tiny compared to the man on the screen.]

Yeah, he's not as small as a Flabébé. If you see a little fairy looking one riding on a flower, that's the smallest Pokémon in both regions.

[Ohhhh nooooo where did she go she disappeared again!!! D: ]

Riding on a flower? That does sound pretty tiny. I'll keep an eye out.

[Because apparently he's just going to be a Fairy-type breeder that's fine]

Yeah. I'm taking my time traveling now. Since I'm traveling alone, it's easier to do. I've never seen leaves turn these colors before!

Ah... Yeah, it's been too long since I've been planetside to see the changing of the seasons. When I was a kid I loved all the different colors.

I've never been to a world with fall or winter...

[All he knows is spring and summer. He blinks at part of that sentence.]

Let's hope it's a beautiful one, everyone should see one magnificent fall in their lives.

Well, it's been a few years since I've been on earth, and there's not many other places that have the same seasons.

I've been to a lot of worlds, but they were all either in spring or summer. Summer, mostly. Like Agrabah. But it's a desert, so it's probably always summer there. Not a lot of them had trees...

[So...]

You've been to different worlds, too? How'd you get to them?

[Not in the same sense, Roxas.]

[...Well then. There must be other worlds where people let kids leave the planet without their parents.]

Well, I was sent there when I joined the military. I did basic training on Earth, and then was shipped off pretty shortly after that.

[This guy was a soldier?]

How old were you back then?

...Phew, that was... Ten? ish? years ago?

We enlisted a couple weeks after our 20th birthday, I think.

[This guy was already way older than Roxas was, but he didn't look that old...]

That's a long time.

Yeah. Not nearly as glamorous as the recruitment officers would have you believe, either.

How would it b glamorous? What did they promise?

Just the same things I imagine are pretty universal. "Be a hero," "Save humanity," that sort of thing.
